Computer game nostalgia thread

Really enjoyed reading this thread, here are a few that I remember fondly that haven't been mentioned yet:

Eamon adventures (Apple II)
Castle Wolfenstein (Apple IIGS)
Beyond Castle Wolfenstein (Apple IIGS)
David's Midnight Magic (Apple IIGS) - my favorite pinball ever!
Sargon III (Apple IIGS) <--- chess
Hammurabi (IBM PC)

And I remember Hunt the Wumpus. I remember typing in line after line from the book, BASIC computer games by David Ahl, to play Hunt the Wumpus, Super Star Trek, and many others. How disappointed I would be if a game wouldn't work due to an error in the book, but usually I would just go on to the next one. Anyone remember typing in the games from the now defunct
Compute! magazine, and then having to wait for the next month's issue to get the corrections? Or Softtalk magazine.

My first computer game was on my father's AIM 6502 (Advanced Interactive Microcomputer), which was a small "portable" computer that fit inside a suitcase, with a small LED readout, built-in thermal paper strip printer, and a tape recorder input. The first game I played on it was the text version of star trek, with the printer printing the screen for each turn. It was a blast. You can see if here:link His was the green one on top, attached into a suitcase (he worked for Rockwell, and didn't get to use the fancier ones pictured below)

At one point in college I was completely addicted to four games at once: Star Control 2, Heroes of Might & Magic 2, Master of Orion 2, and Civilization 2. All great games, and all with the number "2" in them. Coincidence? I think not! ;)

I've seriously considered buying an older PC just to run those games.

Well, those and "Wing Commander". How could I foget! I still have notes from the last time I played it (which must've been 10 years ago) - a little scrap of paper with every sortie I flew, the type and number of Kilrathi ships I shot down, and any medal I won.

Gads, I am such a geek. :p

Wasteland. Those good ol' rangers, pummeling their way through radioactive death...

Sim City, the game that let me build and destory.

Sim Ant, the game that got my hooked to computers. Played it for 5 hours straight, back when I had never seen a computer before. Spent the next hour nursing my red eyes back to health. That hasn't happened since :).

All the Sierra games, those amazing stories... Space Quest, Quest for Glory, King's Quest...

Secret of Monkey Island...

And even though it does not belong on this list, Planescape: Torment becuase no list of good games is complete without it. To this day, I have refused to play through it again becuase just the memory of playing it once is too powerful to debase by going through it twice.

Cheers.
