Greetings All,
Do you live in Brisbane, Australia?
Are you someone who likes to organise events?
Are you a gamer and hate the idea of there not being a major gaming convention in Brisbane?
Then this posting is for you!!!!
Over the last month and a half the previous committee of The BIG Weekend have conducted meetings looking at the future of The BIG Weekend Indoor Games Convention and the interest in the organisation of such an event. Unfortunately, the interest has been low.
Brisbane Gaming Conventions (going by the names of BrisCon, Maelstrom and The BIG Weekend) have been running for 15+ years and unfortunately the time has come for its future to be determined.
Have you got what it takes?
We will be running a final meeting when it will be decided if there are enough interested persons to become involved in the running of this event.
The following positions will be up for election at this meeting:
EXECUTIVE
1) President
2) Vice President
3) Secretary
4) Treasurer
CONVENTION SUB-COMMITTEE
(a) Event Co-ordinator
(b) Registration Officer
(c) Venue Officer
(d) Purchasing Officer
(e) Graphic Design Officer
(f) Marketing Officer
(g) Games Officers
(i) Role Playing
(ii) Miniature Wargaming
(iii) Board and Collectible Card Games
(iv) Collectible Miniatures Games
Each of these positions is voluntary and require approximately 5 hours per week. Do not be daunted by this, as it has been guaranteed that you will be assisted by the previous committee to fulfil your responsibilities.
There are further recommendations, all of which are spelt out in the proposed Queensland Gamers Guild Constitution which can be found here
If you are interested in any of these positions please read this document carefully.
The meeting details are:
WHERE: Fast Break Sports, 1 Chapel Street, NUNDAH
WHEN: 29th August, 2003 at 7.30pm sharp
WHO: All Welcome
Tea, Coffee, Milo and biscuits will be provided.
As insurance for the convention is due on September 1st, 2003 this will be the final meeting to determine the fate of The BIG Weekend. Failure to fill all of the necessary roles will result in the end of The BIG Weekend, the only major Queensland convention that covers all aspects of gaming.
So if you care about the future of this convention or would just like to be heard, then lock this date into your calendar for the meeting to determine the future of Queensland's Largest Gaming Convention.
Hope to see you there.
