Got mine too..I missed this thread with all my video gaming-and the release date of the book snuck up on me.

Three of REH's longer Conan stories? Woot!

First, I'd like to say thanks to everyone here who has picked up a copy of Bloody Crown, because of your effort Howard is starting to become a known author again. :D

Second, I thought that some of you might like to get some idea of where Wandering Star is headed with future Howard publications. The following gives you an idea of what to expect over the next couple of years;

Del Rey as already expressed an interest in doing tradepaper versions of all of them. :cool:

You're in Seattle like me, where did you get your copy? I tried Borders downtown, but no luck.

Interesting, I picked mine up at Barnes and Noble at University Village. However the guy had to go hunting in the back for it. The next day I was at a B&N killing some time in Reno, and took a look for it. It was nowhere to be found. I did not ask where they were, but I suspect they are not a big priority to B&N.

Knowing how some books come in a box that says somthing tantamount to "big and important" I know that B&N likes to be picky about what they push. It may be that the big stores are not pushing howard based on sales of the crappy conan pastiches and the BAEN howard library series.

This was Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

Aaron.

A side question. I ve googled, but what is the relationship if any between wandering star and dely rey? I know that Wandering star has the rights. Their books seem to be a bit pricey for me. Does dely rey have a deal with them or the REH estate?

As a follow up, any other del rey trade paperbacks Conan books in the pipeline other than The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian vol. 2?

Bloody Crown roxxors btw. Hour of the Dragon may be my favorite Conan story ever.

To be honest, I'm not absolutely sure what the arrangement is between Del Rey and Wandering Star. I belive that they have first rights to option any paperback version of the WS prints. Reading posts from DR personal over at conan.com, I get the impression that they were surprised at how well the first conan tradepaper sold and up their print run for the second. In addition, the sales of the Solomon Kane caught them by surprise. They expected a good sale but nothing like what actually happened. Keeping this in mind, they do plan on producing TP's of Bran, Kull, and the other character based works that WS will be printing. I was informed recently that they are interested in, but not confirmed, in doing printings of Howard's poetry collection and the collection of letters written between REH and HPL. If they do decide to pick up on these two volumes it will most likely be based on the sales of the character based books.

I'll have to ask around to find out what the exact arrangement is between DR and WS.

There is a third Conan book planned for next year. The details are;

Teeth of Gwahlur
Beyond the Black River
The Black Stranger
The Man-Eaters of Zamboula
Red Nails

Miscellanea
Notes on Various People of the Hyborian Age, page two
First Draft [Wolves Beyond the Border]
Second Draft [Wolves Beyond the Border]

Wandering Star version _about_the middle of next year

Del Rey : November / December
