Conan: Coming of the Cimmerian

If you can't wait until the other two volumes are released I suggest Gollancz Publishing's Conan Chronicles. Gollancz published all of Howard's Conan stories (including fragments and drafts) in chronological order using the Miller/Clark Chronology: http://www.barbariankeep.com/career.html

The downside is that Gollancz is a British publishing house so if you're on the colonial side of the pond you'll have to go to a British site to grab them. I suggest Amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...0311/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_11_2/202-4475662-2866205 and http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...0311/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_11_1/202-4475662-2866205

In own both volumes and I love them.

Another Solomon Kane fan here, too. I was fortunate enough to pick up most of the REH reprints three years ago in Singapore. I understand that these weren't available in the USA although I am not sure for what reason (although, being the USA, it will be a "legal problem").

Which editions are these? There was a series of books collecting all REH's non-Conan stuff (Cormac Mac Art, Kull, Solomon Kane, Bran Mak Morn, the "weird South" tales like "Black Canaan", and two volumes of miscellaneous stuff) out here in the States about three years back. Small paperbacks, with silver spines. I've got all 7, and now I have a full-fledged REH addiction. ;)

I haven't read any of the Conan stories since the seventies. I'm intrigued by the resurgence and might have to pick this up.

There's a convincing argument presented in the introduction of The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian on why the stories should be read in the order they were written rather than in strictly chronological order.

Could you let on as to what it is? I presume it's something to do with the development of Howard's writing style.

It would be well worth anybodies time to pick up the new editions of Howard's material. These are the unedited texts as either Howard wrote them or their first printing in Weird Tales.

Bookmarked. It's good to see a timeline of Conan's career that hasn't been rewriten/edited by de Camp.
