Conan: Going to 2nd Printing

Already? Darn, the thing must be selling well! (Or Mongoose played it smart and only published a small first run.) :)

I'm guessing it's a number of factors:

It's CONAN ~ huge following, even among non-gamers
It's a big damn book
It's a must-have for a game library
Everyone's been waiting for it to be done right for once (although GURPS was close)
It's D&D compatable system (mostly)...LOTR would have been wise to follow this lead
The price: $32 bucks on Amazon

That's funny. I didn't see one copy of Conan arrived at my FLGS.
Only 1 copy in the DFW area's largest game store chain (11 stores, I think).

(They had twice as many Dawnforges!) </sarcastic enthusiasm>

Any idea when this happens? I haven't quite picked it up yet, and now I'm thinking I'd rather hold off until the second printing.

Mongoose Matt said it was "at least three months off", which means it could be considerably longer, who knows? I assume they need to sell out of the first printing before they put the revision into production. As someone who bought two copies of the book (one full price [$50] from my FLGS, one for $30 from Amazon), I'm a little peeved. However, I don't regret the purchase. I've been running Conan for a month now, and despite a few small rules glitches, there's been nothing to tear our hair out over. We've been having great fun with the rules and setting (in preparation for which I read 15+ Conan novels since January). I wanted to run a low magic d20/OGL game immediately, and Conan saved me the work of cobbling together my own. So, it was a good buy, despite the editing/proofreading problems.

I find myself in a quandary. I'd like to get hold of the Conan game, but I'd rather wait for a 2nd edition with various glitches tidied up because I prefer to have a version I've not scribbled over :)

I guess it is a case of keeping eyes open for announcements about it really. I'm not in the position to start a new Conan based campaign for plenty of time, so I can wait... just about!

Yeah, i don't have a Conan game happening anytime soon, either. Besides, for 30 to 50 dollars i want as perfect a product i can get, so I'm waiting anyway.
