Conan o'Brien makes fun of D&D

interesting.

Hrm, well there is quite a bit of difference: Conan just did some good natured ribbing, kinda like how one would tease a good friend. Stern equated D&D players with being child molesters iirc.

Indeed, the reason why people don't mind the ribbing from Conan so much is that it's all in good fun. Howard Stern, on the other hand, has no good nature to him. He does it all as part of his broadcast freak show, and the nature of his pokes at D&D could be considered libelous. He delights in dragging things down to his cesspool.

No, I do not like Howard Stern at all.

Now I will grant that not all gamers are uninterested in sports, but I will say that on average they are less interested.

I'm interested in the sport of Sumo, but that has a geekiness all its own.

I'm interested in football, at least to the extent that my apartment complex has free pizza and beer at the clubhouse during the Superbowl. I've found it best to not ask who's playing when I first walk in. :D

Yeah, you can tell just by watching Conan's show that he isn't meaning to be malicious and he doesn't mean to place himself any higher than anyone else. Stern on the other hand is often malicious in his intentions and definitely comes off as having a holier-than-thou attitude.

Triumph at the American Idol 3 auditions in Honolulu was absolutely hilarious. I was on the floor laughing when they showed that - especially when Fox kicked them off the lot and they went to the local NBC affiliate to bash Fox and the anchors. I'm not a huge fan of Triumph, but that was just genius.

of course, the most hysterical (and offensive) :p geek-bashing ever is still Triumph the Insult Comic Dog at the Star Wars line at the Ziegfield theatre in NYC.
Howard Stern vs Conan, like has been said, one was probably more good-natured than the other. Personally, I find them equally funny, which is not at all. I find Stern interesting to watch, because you can tell that it's just a job to him, and I like the side-kick lady. I'm pretty sure that she spends every ep very high. Conan, when I catch him, doesn't make me laugh. The only times I've even cracked a smile have been when the guests responded to something. Once, I caught Helen Hunt, who I don't like, and Conan did some incredibly unfunny skit, but I found her laughter appealing and couldn't help but laugh. As for Triumph, I hate that thrice-cursed dog.
