confusion as the spell

what an extremely interesting spell. i almost took out my entire party with the use of it, however i'm thinking there may have been modifications t it that i'm not aware of, and since i will be using it again i want to be fair to my players and their characters.

We discovered long ago that confusion is a killer.

Its lethality scales with the party: It's one thing to have Joe, Ftr1 get confused and attack you. It's another thing to have Joe, Ftr4/Bbn4/Frenzied Berserker 5 get confused and attack you.

I've seen a character drop confusion on a bunch of big tough humanoids (with low will saves) and then drop blade barrier on top of them. I don't think *any* of them made it out...

You know, PlaneSailing, I'd probably rule that any character in the BladeBarrier that saw the spellcaster do it would probably get to treat the caster as if he had attacked him. But yes, Confusion can be beautiful.
