Conjoined (Siamese) Twins

In my now-discontinued "Into the Land of Black Ice" campaign, I had neutrally-aligned conjoined beholder twins guarding the site of the Tovag Baragu (which, in my campaigns, was moved into the Land of Black Ice by Istus). Their appearance was not unlike that of an hourglass, as they were joined at their undersides.

Coinjoined twins are seperate people. They have their own brains, their own consciousness, their own experiences, their own lives. I think they should be two seperate characters with physical limitations regarding mobility primarily. To say that identical twins should be played like one person with two heads, or that they should share the same class levels, is IMO pretty demeaning.

I think it would be really fun to have them played by two different players. Those players would, of course, have to work very closely together to make the situation believable. One player, maybe, but I don't really like the idea of a player controlling two characters though, so it's up to the DM really. I wouldn't go for it.
