Contest: win $25 cash or $30 at enworld.rpgshop.com to map my campaign world!

Hi All,

Efforts on my homebrew campaign world of Nebadon have really stalled, and I have decided that what I need is a World Map to inspire me to get back to work.

If you are interested in entering my contest, please post a sample of your work, or a link to your work in this thread.

I know that I am not offering much, so if you think that this is too little cash, please do not enter the contest or disparage my efforts. Thanks very much. I will select a winner at the end of this month ( 06/31/03 ), and will answer any specific questions if you post them here. FYI: I will be away from the internet from 06/12-06/22.

The winner will create a map with the following features:

1) A broad view of portions of three continents with a large sea running between them – Total area of about 6,000 x 4,000 miles

2) You will render terrain and major rivers etc…, but I will only need name labels for the continents and major bodies of water

3) I will need to have access to a version of the map in something I can manipulate myself, like a .jpg or .bmp file.

To give you a better idea of what you may be getting yourself into ( and why I need help! ), I have attached here a rough sketch of Nebadon that I originally put together for an earlier thread that Terraism started. Please DO NOT feel that you need to give me a sample of anything specific to Nebadon! Something you have already done will be fine.

I am generally not very fond of the standard CC2 Maps, although that doesn’t mean that I will not consider them.

Map will be due from winner no later than August 24, 2003 - payment on delivery. I may have some additional work for the winner that we can negotiate later.

Artist will agree that I may publish the final map to a website or other as long as credit is given. Artist may also post or even resell this map with the small excpetion that my nebadon specific proper nouns not be on any map resold by the artist.

I also may have some work for runners-up if they are willing to work for trade. I have a stack of d20 books about 3 feet high that I will be trading away soon.

Thanks very much,

BFG

edit: added next to last paragraph & a few minor grammer fixes

Are we talking hand drawn then scanned in for a original feel or CC2 Pro. Let me know, my work from CC2 Pro will be up real soon, its a world bigger than the realms fully detailed. I also do hand drawn in black and white, basic on graph paper, let me know, also how detailed do you want this thing?

Hand drawn then scanned might make for an original looking map, but that is not required. You may submit more than one style of map that you have done for me to check out if you like. I do know that there are many other mapping programs ( or programs that can be used to create maps ) besides the CC2 versions, so its not necessarily one or the other.

I'm not 100% sure I understand your question of how detailed I want the map, so if I do not answer to your satisfaction, please feel free to ask your question a different way:

The detail will be in the geographical features/terrain, not cities or region names etc... I would probably add a few more minor mountain ranges/hills or smaller additional forests, but i think you can get the general idea from my sample map. Detail may vary with style, so I'm trying not to limit you. It would be very fair to say that some detail will have to wait for maps that focus on specific regions of Nebadon, and are thus not relevant for the first map I'm commissioning.

How big of a map are you wanting? 8.5"x11", Poster-size, one-to-one ratio ;)?

Yeah, I was thinking actual size. :p

Final product will be a minimum of 8.5'' x11'' but can be (much) larger if the artist prefers.

Your sample does not have to be that big however...

Okay, I'm gonna try this one last time.

Click HERE to see the maps I did Sunday afternnoon. These are rough quality IMO, so I can put a bit more work into them if you'd like.

Thanks Sulaco!

Just to be clear - samples do NOT have to be specific to my campaign world though...

No worries. I didn't have anything ready that wasn't covered by an NDA so I figured it would be easier to simply use yours.
