If you only pause to check for auras when a choice presents itself, it could speed things up considerably. If you're in a dungeon a lot of time all you need to know is which exit they used every now and then.
You could maintain concentration on Detect Magic as a swift action with a DC35 concentration check if you have the Extraordinary Concentration feat from Complete Adventurer, and move a little faster.
