Controlled Immolation

Light Knight

First Post
Probably a dumb question, I think I know the answer..but...

Benefit

If you catch on fire you take no damage from the flames. A creature striking you with its body or a handheld weapon takes 1d6 points of fire damage. The fire persists on your body for 1d4 rounds.
This feat doesn't protect you from other sources of fire damage, whether magical or not, only from the effects of catching on fire. It also doesn't protect your equipment from the effects of fire.

First sentence ends with a period. Second sentence appears to be independent. But third sentence appears to tie the first 2 sentences together.

So...if you catch fire, then you cause a d6 damage shield? ie its not always on?

This is a sissy, non-magical form of Balor Nimbus.

No, you are not constantly on fire. If you somehow do catch on fire, then you do not take the damage as normal, and you stay alight for 1d4 rounds, which I believe is the norm.

If someone throws a lit chunk of wood on you while you sleep, and you catch fire, you yourself are not injured by the flames, although anyone that touches you is, and your equipment is. You do not gain a magical ability to ignite yourself. If you were to wear clothes dried in gasoline, and lit yourself on fire right before attempting to grapple an enemy, it would be a bit of extra damage to your enemy, but the drawback is the damage to your equipment making it very hard to take advantage of.

Yah, should have looked at the Unearted Arcana directly, instead of really on the d20 srd on the web. The book is quite plain about what it means.

But thaniks for the input.
