Conversion of Zelda to D&D D20 rules

First Post
Greetings all. I was just wondering if anyone out there has gone to the trouble of translating computer/video game console rpgs to the D20 system. I'm especially interested in the Legend of Zelda. I've seen the Final Fantasy site that has updates on Enworld here every now and then, nice job that. Anyone know of any more? Thanks:D

Me too Please

I don't know of any but I would love to find some! Zelda was my first Nintendo game and I loved it even though I wasn't good at it at the age of 7.

A friend of mine just for fun made Link in D&D style. He was an elf fighter, making sure he had the right magic weapons (sword, hammer, etc). There was like, maybe a sorcerer level or something to use the wands and stuff, beyond that it was just loading him down with magical items that were made right.

Y'know, Link starts out with four heart containers (=Hit Dice=Levels). So he's probably a 4th level fighter, but this leads to the question: How the heck can he have Whirlwind Attack?!

Well, maybe not. In Zeldas earlier than OoT, Each heart is 2 hits. In OoT and later, you get quarter-hearts as well. So if link started with four hearts (I thought he always started with three? he does in the NES, SNES, GB and N64 games) then he would have 16 HP tops, i.e. a 4th level Wizard.

If I was statting Link up based on Background, I'd have him:
Small Elf (he's just a kid!) Fighter/Ranger/Paladin/Sorceror (that's a lot of Multiclasing!)

Based on Likely D&D stats it'd be:
Small Elf Fighter/Sorceror

And based on a literal translation it'd be:
Small Elf Sorceror (with a boat load of proficiencies).

Also consider that link doesn't wear armour, but instead gets clothing that grants him powers (in LttP it was Damage Reduction, and in OoT it was 100% heat resistance or Water Breathing), and it is usually Wizards and Sorcerors who wear robes, not fighters...

My personal take on Link, using Ocarina of Time:

He's a 4th level fighter at the beginning of the game.

His feats are:
Expertise
Dodge
Mobility
Spring Attack
Whirlwind Attack

Throughout the game, he is given "spells" in the form of magical items that he can use. He has a certain pool of power points inherent in his race (Hylian, obviously world-specific) that can power these items.

He also receives a lot of magical items along the way. (This is necessary, because it's a solo campaign.)

Heh. That was fun. :)

I've always considered link to be a bard, especially since Ocarina of time. He has decent fighting abilities, magic songs, and a few spells, wears little armor, but has a good weapon selection. I would say he has a good constitution score, and his 'dnd strength' would be pretty high with the bracelets and magic swords.

It's next on my list after FFd20 is mostly done.

Of course, FFd20 is likely to take 'till my dying day. I've got a few quick ideas for it, but nothing entirely concrete. It's a great thing. :)

My take? Hylians are typical high elves...kokiri are similar to gnomes...Link, a hylian raised by the kokiri, stradles the line between city and wilderness.

I'd put him down as a Ranger (though he doesn't use two weapons, he's got the wilderness skills down), and finish up as a Fighter. He's got ranks in Perform, feats in various things, etc.

I'm having fun whipping up stats for my Zora priest/Goron babrabian/Shiekah rogue/Gerudo sorcerer party and sending them after various things.

It's fun! :)

Oh, BTW, if you're statting up link, you do realise that not every Link is the same Link, right? LttP link is clearly a different Link from the OoT link, being that he has an Uncle, is left handed and has Pink hair.

So really, Link should be statted up for every game, except ones clearly connected, such as OoT/MM and Ages/Seasons
