Converting 3.5 Eberron adventures to 4E-advice, opinions

I believe they were referring to the Viktor Saint-Demain trilogy.

I think context shows that the reference was to the entirety of Paizo/Dungeon's 3.5 Eberron body of work. I agree with mevers that most or all of that body of work is strong.

My negative comment referred to the recent 4E adventure published (last month?). It's not terrible or anything, just sort of dungeon-crawly and uninspired.

I suspect that some of that was Paizo's way of handling Eberron in Dungeon. They stated that they weren't going out of their way to commission Eberron adventures. They said when they got more submissions we'd see more Eberron adventures.

So, most of what we saw were adventures from those really into Eberron, with a strong Eberron feel. In fact, between Nic Logue and Keith Baker I think we had a majority of the great Eberron adventures in Dungeon.

I'm in the process of converting every murder mystery adventure I can get my hands on. It's quite convenient they're all in Sharn. ;P

Basically, Chimes - MiOakbridge - Steel Shadows - Quoth - Hell's Heart.

I expect the players to hate Saint-Demain.

They'll hate him even more if you set him up in adventures leading up to Chimes. Ideally, you want them to grudgingly respect him. Have them had his arrogance, but understand that he has earned it somewhat (ideally not by one-upping the PCs on a regular basis, but maybe one key time).

I really liked Eyes of the Lich Queen, and even posted a bunch of conversions for the first chapter on this board. Unfortunately, that group fell apart before we even started the campaign, so I stopped posting.

Yeah, I saw you post. I even lifted your suggestion for using the Behemoth in place of the Gorillon. My characters are starting at level 5, so of course, I had to make the encounters a little lighter than yours.

Did you ever do any work on the traps? That's my next job...

I had some thoughts, but it never made it onto paper. And it's been awhile, so I can't really remember much.

One thing that I ran into trying to make those conversions was that encounter design is very different from 3E to 4E. If I was doing it again, I'd probably jettison the idea of directly converting encounters, and instead go for the general feel instead.
