D&D 3.x Converting monsters from Mayfair Games Role Aids product line

I like the idea of an aura, although maybe one that isn't continuously active.

I've had sneezes before that I would swear caused me Con damage.

The original looks like its meant to be a minor, disposable monster so I don't like the idea of giving it dust of sneezing and choking.

How about we do two dust spiders, a Large-sized "Greater Dust Spider" with the dust of sneezing and choking, plus whatever other evil powers we can think of, and a Tiny "Lesser Dust Spider" which just produces a cloud of dazzling dust when killed, like the original.

The Lesser Dust Spider can be the Greater's minions or offspring, and we could make a swarm of them if they're tiny!

I'm fine with Magical Beast (Air, Earth, Outsider) for them.

So, what other powers can we come up with.

SLA abilities - glitterdust? dust cloud (=fog cloud), blindness (but not deafness)?

Summon Dust Devil - like I suggested for the Markeen:

Summon Dust Devil (Sp): Once per day a markeen can summon a Small air elemental to appear in its whirlwind form anywhere with a 50 foot range. This spell-like-ability allows the air elemental to remain in its whirlwind form for 1 round per Hit Dice the markeen possesses. The elemental can not revert to its normal form to make slam attacks, but must remain in its whirlwind form while summoning lasts, moving as the markeen directs it. Summon Dust Devil is the equivalent of a 2nd level spell.

Dust Form - the Lessers could just disguise themselves as a pile of dust, the Greaters fly about as a cloud of dust (= gaseous form).

Immunity to disintegration - it's already only dust. Come to think of it, if it is only made of dust it should get it a bunch of other immunities. I think it'd better have immunities similar to a construct or elemental, something like:

Dust Body: A dust spider's body is made up of nothing but fine dust, giving it immunity to poison, disease, disintegration, sleep effects, paralysis, stunning and critical hits. A dead dust spider cannot be brought back to life by raise dead, reincarnation or resurrection, it requires a limited wish, wish, miracle or true resurrection to restore it to life.

Yeah, they do only have 1 HD. Shame I didn't notice that before. Doing lessers and greaters, as Cleon suggested, does help with that.

We could do lessers and greaters. Or we could stick to 1HD and give them dust of sneezing and choking as a really nasty death throes. I kind of like doing 2 varieties, though.

Having a Greater Dust Spider with Lessers swarming all over it was one thing I was thinking of, yes.
