D&D 4E Converting past editions to 4E

Howdy folks. I was thinking about converting a version of 'Tomb of Horrors' to 4E, and I was looking for some advice. I was wondering if there were any tips for converting from either 1st edition or 3.5. I should also mention that this will be my first foray into the world of the DM.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers!

I had noticed that Wizards converted Temple of the Yuan-Ti to 4e. You may want to look at that for some ideas. I do not have the 3.5 edition, but found some useful encounter ideas.

I'm not sure how each of the monsters convert in terms of power from 3e to 4e. It would seem that some monsters may be more or less powerful that the party level should warrent. Most of the monsters should be converted and you can add or subtract the numbers to get your xp allotment. You may need to swap out monsters that are a number or levels off of the pc's level, I think the books say 4 or more levels higher are not a good idea. Another idea is to have weaker versions of the monster if you have one that is a must have. Not sure if all the traps will convert nicely.

From what I've heard 4e Tomb of Horrors is set to be released in the summer for Gen Con?

Anyway, you may have to do more than just a straight conversion of monsters. 4e works best with a bit of room for things to maneuver and a lot of old maps really don't give you all that interesting a battlefield. A fight where everyone ends up packed in together or there is basically one choke point devolve pretty quickly.
