Gotta do arcane fire. I'll never craft an archmage without it!
Of your selections, I like arcane reach, mastery of elements, spell power, and spell-like ability.
Oh, and for the epic feat, how about Improved Spell Capacity?
Updated.
We'll need to decide upon the spell-like ability, so we know what level spell slot must be sacrificed to power it. Maybe fireball? Or greater dispel magic?
Feats: Improved Spell Capacity, Scribe Scroll (B), 7 standard, 3 wizard bonus feats, 1 fighter bonus feat, 1 human bonus feat
How about we make this guy an evoker, and go with Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus (evocation)? Throw in some Empower and Maximize, and load up the spell list with some serious evocation?
A fireball has limited versatility, greater dispel magic is more useful. I would rather make it an Enchanter with SLA mass charm monster or dominate monster though...
I wanted to avoid enchantment (and conjuration) since the Fool already covered that niche.
Speaking of which, we've forgotten school specialization for all our recent wizards!
Granted, it's not mandatory.
In that case, how about making it a Transmuter with polymorph any object as its SLA?
Polymorph? Eww...
Are you strongly opposed to greater dispel magic? I could go for Transmuter with greater dispel magic as the SLA, although I'm still far more keen on the "blow stuff up" guy.
The Spell-Like Ability SLA is more efficient if a high level spell is chosen, since it's effectively swapping a 5th-level spell and an X-level spell for two X-level spells.
Getting two 8th-level spells for an 8th and a 5th is worthwhile, two 6th level spells like greater dispel magic instead of a 6th and a 5th gives some minor benefits (no preparation or components and one spell-level higher), but at a considerable cost in versatility.
Basically, if it isn't a multi-purpose 8th or 9th level spell I don't think it's worth using the Secret on it.
As for the Specialist, I don't think we should go that route since we've settled on most of the spells already and would have to decide on the Banned Schools and reassign spells it can't have.
Let's do a future Wizard as a Specialist, then we won't have to change spells after the fact.
