D&D 5E Converting TOR into 5e, suggestions?

Sacrosanct

Legend
So I looked at the OGL 5e version of Adventurers of Middle Earth, and there's a lot that spiked my interest. I bought a book for each of my group as Christmas presents, and they've all also been intrigued, so I'm going to run a campaign. None of us have played TOR before, but it seems like the material for TOR is easily usable for 5e. The maps are at any rate. Rather than create my own adventure for a setting I'm learning, I bought Ruins of the North for TOR with the intent on converting it to 5e. I've lots of experience with converting things, so I'm not too worried, but thought I'd ask for any advice from those who may have already done so. Any tips? Things to look out for? Might save myself some time :)

You should try Tales from Wilderland. It contains some amazing adventures. Ruins of the North is excellent too but is more of a campaign. You can take great ideas too.

I'm in the same boat. I grabbed Tales from Wilderland and the Darkening of Mirkwood. To prepare for my first session I took the first adventure of Tales (Don't leave the Path) read through it, and started grabbing statblocks from the 5e MM for bandits, a Thug (for a bandit leader), some spiders, a something that lives in a well and has Tentacles. I used a Roper for that.

I haven't got the chance to run it yet, but so far it seems pretty straight forward. I plan to play pretty fast and loose with it. Like converting any Tests to Ability Score Checks on the fly. Overall I think it won't be hard at all.

Yeah, I'm in the process for replacing monster stat blocks, and coming up with DC values for the various checks that seem to be all over the place in TOR. It doesn't seem difficult; I was just wondering if anyone who has done this already had any tips. Gotta say, I'm getting a bit stoked about playing it. Although I did give my players (one of whom is a big LoTR fan) a disclaimer that I WILL mispronounce things lol. Looking through the rulebook, and the one piece of advice I gave them for chargen is "don't underestimate wisdom" ;)

I wish I had more tips, but the holidays made it tough for my group to get together. I'm really curious to try out the Journey and Audience rules. I've heard the Journey rules are different, better even, in AiME than in TOR.

Good advice on Wisdom!

TOR = The One Ring. Sorry for not being clear. I've never played it, but it's a beautifully designed game from an aesthetic standpoint at least, and is Cubicle 7s take on Middle Earth. Then again, I admit my bias because Jon H. is an artist I've worked with before and he's top notch and he's done work for TOR.

Anyway, recently Cubicle 7 released a 5e version called Adventures in Middle Earth using the OGL. From what I've read so far, there's a lot I like in it and I can't wait to play. So I was just asking if anyone has converted the older TOR adventures into 5e yet.

The Artwork in TOR, and used again in AiME is fantastic!
