Also, cool. Actually, if I hadn't seen the second image, I would have though it was shopped because the lighting was inconsistent on the two people, since the 'small woman' is nearer to the glowing curtain.
Yeah, that is a cool trick. That's basically how a good portion of Lord of the Rings was filmed. The sets were built to use perspective. The hard part for the actors was fixing their gaze on a point that made it look like they were talking to the other actor in the scene, even when that other actor may be 6 to 10 feet to the side of them. The Making Of... shorts on the special edition DVD's show a lot of this ... and Yeah, it is Really Cool!
