We were playing Shadowrun, I was playing a catburglar. We'd managed to get into a casino in Salish lands. The party managed a pretty good diversion, I got down into the vault where the credsticks were. Without telling the other players what I had planned, I asked the GM where the power was, he said there was a pretty large junction box near the vault. I shut the power down to the whole casino, made it into the vault with the MacGuffin, and the huge pile of credsticks. The players were cursing me out because I'd shut the power down, said there was no way for me to get back to the casino floor without the power, and what a waste it was that I wasn't going to be able to steal the credsticks. "I'm not leaving from the elevator." The players started to cheer... honest to god cheering. I jammed the sticks into a duffel, asked the nearest teller where the dumbwaiter was, The GM had mentioned it a couple of sessions earlier... shimmied up the dumbwaiter shaft, out into the pit area. In the confusion of the power outage, I stripped off the Maintenance coverall, what was underneath? A Tuxedo naturally, I collected my date, the Aztechnology exec-secretary, and walked slowly, but surely out to my brand new Jaguar parked outside. The GM was flabbergasted. I had asked him a couple of weeks earlier how the credsticks got from the floor to the vault. He mentioned the dumbwaiter just in passing. I made a little note and tucked it away in the back of my mind. Never even had a shot fired. Greatest encounter we ever had. Got away with something like 45 mil nuyen. Seriously made my rep with the other players.
