Incidentally, the reason I asked the questions about cooperative scribing is because I have a paladin, and I was hoping to be able to ask the party wizard to craft me a few scrolls of paladin spells, but it seems that's not possible.

A cleric with Scribe Scroll could help him.

I'd wanted a scroll or two of Bless Weapon for a rainy day, since it just doesn't strike me as something I'd want to prepare over Protection from Evil, but could be useful on those occasions that we encounter something that requires a [Good] weapon to damage. But I guess the nature of scrolls precludes cooperation, and 100gp per scroll is a bit pricey for a 1st-level spell when I still don't own a suit of full plate.

I'm assuming from your suggestion that a wand wouldn't have the same problem as the scroll. If my calculations are correct, a Wand of Holy Sword would cost 21,000gp on the market, and thus 10,500gp and 840xp to craft. Not bad if I could manage to get an NPC to craft it for cost, but alas, I know no such wizards, and my mentor passed away in my backstory.

It'd definitely be nice to have, though. I may have to start doing some networking.

Like you say, it should only be 50gp. 1st level spell, caster level 2.

All right, thanks for all the Item Creation clarification. My best bet looks like explaining to my DM that scrolls of Bless Weapon are mispriced and trying to get him to cut the cost down to 50gp...and staying on the lookout for a way to get a Wand of Holy Sword.

I think the assumption is that the Paladin scribing the scroll has the minimum WIS to cast the spell (in this case, 11). That means s/he doesn’t get a bonus first level spell slot from her wisdom and so can’t cast 1st level spells until she’s a 6th level paladin (4th level caster).

That makes it 25 X 1 X 4 = 100

This might make sense, except for the fact that a 6th-level paladin has a caster level of 3.

On a related not, the price for a scroll of Bless Weapon in the SRD is listed as 100gp. This would appear incorrect if a paladin with Scribe Scroll crafted it, since (AFAIK) it would be spell level x caster level x 25gp for the market price. So 1 x 2 x 25 should be 50gp, not 100gp. Unless the SRD is (erroneously?) using the paladin's character level, instead of his caster level?

Possibly the writer made some assumption based on treating the scroll as if scribed by a cleric:

Likewise, some divine spells are different in level for clerics and druids than they are for paladins and rangers. Such spells appear at the level appropriate to a cleric or druid (considered the default because paladins and rangers typically don’t involve themselves in scribing scrolls).
