Only bonus from buying the gift set is the slipcase, which is a thick, sturdy cardboard. Unless you're ordering online, which from the above posts you get the set at a lower discount price, but at the trade-off of now having to wait longer for it to be delivered vs. the instant gratification of buying it from the FLGS (if one exists in your area).

Err when I bought my gift set from my FLGS they also gave me a battlemat with the D&D logo on it and a set of dice. Oh they also hosted a World Wide D&D Day the next day with free pizza for the DMs. We had over 60 people show up over the course of the day to play and a few more than we just couldn't squeeze in.

I'm thinking the mat and dice were extras from D&D Game Day. Were the dice black and kinda swirly? Was the mat a dungeon on one side and snowy "Hailstorm Tower" on the other? Just curious.
