Core Setting? Why no Greyhawk?

Many folks I know (including myself) only collect the hardcovers 'cause they last longer, and are easier to deal with. Unfortunatly, this means no "Faerun" monsters (like Bullywugs) or Greyhawk information!
Forgotten Realms, Rokugan, even Ravenloft! Where's the World of Greyhawk hardcover?
Including the books currently scheduled for release, there are 12 hardcovers for D&D. In the 1st edition, the 13th was The World of Greyhawk. I wonder if they'll do the same this time around?

Cause Greyhawk didn't sell all that well?
All the D&D history and books tend to be written in the Realms, and have been since Gygax left TSR.
Maybe they'll get around to Greyhawk as a whole world, but they are basically leaving it open as the generic D&D world as far as I can tell.
Besides they might just make it soft cover anyway, so you still woudn't buy it.

There is the Living Greyhawk Gazeteer, which apart from some information in the appendix and the title, has no more to do with living greyhawk campaigns then any other games in greyhawk.

I know Forgotten Realms sells a lot better, I just figured that seeing how Greyhawk is seen as the "official" core setting, that it at least should have its own hardcover, even a thin one!
Wizards could at least have made Living Greyhawk Gazeteer hardcover, given its size. Of course, they would've charged 50% more for it...
If the rulebooks are to be generic, they should have stayed generic instead of leaving so many Greyhawk references. I've never concidered D&D to be generic fantasy due to so many things not found outside the core rulebooks.
Um, is it just me, or is this thread about to get moved to General RPG Discussion?

I say we push for Lodoss War d20!

(And this really should be in the General Discussion forum.)
I agree on both points.

Heck, I can even make one of the two happen right now! :D

Well for you Scarred Lands fan, the SLCS IS your premier book. It may not have regional feats, new domains or character creations. BUT it does offer great and insightful looks at the various places and geographical features in the Scarred Lands. :)

Hmmmm

What about a hardcover update of the World Builder's Guidebook that would use the Flanaess as the example and give about the same amount of info as the LGG with examples extracted from LGJ of world specific Prestige Classes? This book could serve as the Hardcover Greyhawk book and as a primer for DMs that want to create their own world. Because of all the material in the core rules they won't have to put in as many races, spells or deities as they are already covered. It could be just world material. Greyhawk could be the sample city it presents etc. Any thoughts? Oh and *bump*

Well, IMHO, if you refuse to buy the Greyhawk gaz or something, even though it's a product you are interested in, purely because it's soft cover you're nuts.

I've got softcover books that are many years old, but are still in about as good of condition as you can ask for (Of course the corners are a bit freyed, but that happens with hardcover too eventualy, just not as soon), while I have hardcover books that are scarely a year old are held together by rubber cement or packing tape. The durability of a book is as much dependent on how you care for it, and the quality of the raw materials (The glue, thread, paper, etc) and craftsman ship as it is what type of cover it has.
