Cosmic Patrol provides a fun setting with a focus on narrative game play. Yes, there's more "role playing" than "roll playing" associated with this game. The GM mechanic is interesting too, as everyone gets a chance to be the GM. Games like Rocket Age or Space 1889 provide a similar setting, but the rules for Cosmic Patrol are simpler. However, I'm not sure if this kind of fast and loose style of game is suitable for long-term campaigns.
