Counterspells: Offensive act?

Just to confirm some rules regarding an upcoming battle. A character that is 'invisible' or has a sanctuary up can pretty much counter spells without losing their invisibility and/or sanctuary.

correct?

you're not doing anything to anyone directly, just making their spell go *ffft*, so yeah... I'd say it's not an offensive action.

Just like lighting a building on fire isn't an offensive action. ^_^

For a spell to count as an attack for purposes of invisibility, it must target or affect a creature. Which is not the case for counterspells.
