Okay I have been on a Maverick soundtrack kick since a week before GenCon started. I thought that watching the movie would wash my system of it, but it only intensified. I woke up at noon today an am already am in the third listening of the soundtrack. I guess theres no real cure. I'm going to watch the movie tonight followed by Three Amigos, Rio Diablo and Wagons East!. There any other good country movies I should get my hands on? I'm fully aware of Almost Heroes and it is on my DVD wishlist.

Sons of Katie Elder
The Magnificent Seven
High Plains Drifter
The Outlaw Josie Wales
Paint Your Wagon
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
True Grit
Rooster Cogburn
Son of Paleface

....just a few of my favorites. Nearly all with great soundtracks, if it's the music that's drawing you to the westerns.

I've always liked Silverado. Underrated western from the mid-80's starring Kevin Coster, Kevin Cline, Danny Glover, Scott Glenn, John Cleese, Brian Dennehey, Jeff Fahey, Jeff Goldblum, Rosanna Arquette, and Linda Hunt.

I love the soundtrack to HBO's Deadwood. I found the soundtrack for Maverick to be pretty enjoyable. Of course, anything by Ennio Morricone is great too.

I also enjoy the songs by Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins.
