Couple misc. Psionic questions...

Are there any rules which disallow a Psion from choosing the same Psionic power more than once upon leveling? Like at level 2, can a Psion choose "Force Shield" twice if he wanted to? Yes... I have a reason for doing this, which I will explain later if this is allowed.

If I am a level 11 Psion, I am able to pick level 6 powers. However, if I don't want to pick a level 6 power, can I choose a level 5 power instead? I believe the answer to this is YES... If I am allowed to do this, what is the cost of casting that power? Is it considered a level 5 power (costing 9pp) or is it considered a level 6 power (costing 11pp)?

I don't think it literally says anywhere that you cannot pick the same power twice, but common-sense (hey, what are you doing here! ;) ) should say that you can't (just like it wouldn't make sense for a sorcerer to learn the same spell twice).

Wait a minute, isn't there a psionic power out there that you have to make a specific choice for when you learn it? That's ringing a bell here.

Yes, you can pick a lower-level power when you level up. It would be considered whatever level it normally is.

When a psion levels up, he can continue to pick more 1st level powers, every time. It just means he has more 1st level powers than normal (normal being about four powers of each level, with prob' more high-level powers after 17th or 18th manifester level).

I'd say no, just because... well, you know... common sense. :D

Yeah, you can learn any allowed power up to your maximum allowed level, and of course the power's level depends on its level, not your level (well, duh).

The class table for psions lists the number of powers known due to your psion levels. This is not the maximum number known, it's the exact number known. If you chose force screen twice at 2nd level, you would know 4 powers, not 5. Therefore, that choice is illegal by the class description.

Where are you getting this from? Is this spelled out anywhere, or is it your interpretation? Besides, if a Psion had Force Screen twice, he would still know 2 powers. Sure, they are the same power, but he still knows 2 powers none the less.

Can a Wizard not scribe the same spell in his Spellbook more than once? I don't really see the difference for Sorcerers or Psions knowing the same spell/power more than once.

I is not always the exact number known. There could be fewer due to Apopsi or more due to Psychic Chirurgery.

Each description states that new powers are learned. That would indicate that learning a power again wouldn't be possible. As well, the fist of Zuoken & war mind PrCs state that new powers are learned as well. I haven't looked in other books, but would hope that other psionic classes with their own power lists have this part worded the same. :uhoh:

You wanna' tell us what your reason for wanting this is? Please?

Maybe because he has two psionics classes and a limit to his manifester level, you can only manifest a power up to the manifester level of the class you get it from.
