Cowboy Bebop still thumbs up!

CB rules all. I've got the series coming up on my Netflix queue and I can't wait. Hell, just talking about it makes me want to bump it to the top of the list. Off I go...

Actually, I am studying the language. I have trouble in it, but I enjoy it, and I feel I could speak casual form if need be.

I still like some dubs better. :p

I just want to point out again that one doesn't need to be fluent in Japanese to say if you like the original voices or the dubs better. Actual comprehension of the spoken words has little to do with the opinion of whether or not the voice sounds like it could believably be from the person on the screen, and how much the tone, inflection, etc. match the character's actions, expression, et al.

Indeed. So regardless, your assertion of
obviously know nothing about anime...or voices for that matter!
(smilies notwithstanding!) was wrong.

(And being fluent certainly helps, as that is (obviously) more than "actual comprehension of the spoken words".)

The smilies are withstanding. They were there to show that I wasn't being serious at all. I never meant for that statement to be interpreted literally, as you seem to have done.

I personally disagree. Fluency may or may not be more than comprehension of the spoken word (there is, I suppose, sentence structure and syntax, etc.) but none of that has any real bearing (again IMHO) on deciding whether or not a voice sounds like the character speaking it.

So is there anywhere to get the soundtrack without paying massive amounts of cash for it? Most of the places I've looked do not have it except through 3rd party vendors.

You're best bet is online ordering. The prices vary wildly - everywhere from almost $40 each at Amazon (bad!), to around $20 each here:

BTW, that's soundtracks, Joe. ;) There are 3 main discs plus the movie soundtrack (and two other minor discs that are really just bonuses). To get all the good songs, I recommend: Cowboy Bebop Original Soundtrack V.1, Cowboy Bebop Original Soundtrack V.2, Cowboy Bebop Blue V.3, and Cowboy Bebop OST Future Blues (2 disc) (which is the movie soundtrack). I have all of these, and they are all fantastic.

However, that nifty Cowboy Bebop CD-box Original Soundtrack does look cool... it seems to have most of the songs you'll want (though not all), but it does contain a rather hefty dose of superfluous dialogue tracks. It's the cheaper option, though.
