I was making a character I saw as a wandering adventurer who kept an illustrated journal of journeys and thought: Should he have Craft - Artisting or Profession - Artist? In the end, I gave him Craft - Drawing. However, it made me wonder what other Craft and Profession skills people came up with. Upon realizing the search the forums function is Community Supporters only
, I made this post.
So here're the Craft skills published that I know of (3.5):
Alchemy
Armorsmithing
Bowmaking
Calligraphy (Forgotten Realms/Oriental Adventures)
Carpentry
Leatherworking (In my opinion should include leather armor so possible conflict/overlap with Armorsmithing)
Painting (Forgotten Realms/Oriental Adventures)
Pottery
Origami (Oriental Adventures)
Sculpture (Forgotten Realms/Oriental Adventures)
Trapmaking
Weaponsmithing
Weaving (Forgotten Realms)
Here are some I thought of:
Blacksmithing (ie, horsehoes, tools, etc)
Brewing
Cooking
Drawing
Jewelrysmithing
Sewing
Woodworking/Woodcarving
And These are the Profession skills published that I know of (3.5):
Cook
Miller
Miner
And here are some Professions I thought of
Artist
Blacksmith
Scribe
Seamstress
Tailor
Valet
The potential for overlap is apparent but, in my opinion, of little concern since the two skills use very similar mechanics (with the only differences being those derived from the assumption that a Profession skill does not produce anything, yet a Cook produces food.)
My suggestion is to blend the two skills function together and use the Craft rules for both skills and make the choice of making something a Craft or Profession skill a matter of style. A Craft skill, being Int based, would be more precision focused, while a Profession skill, being Wis based, would be more artistic and inspired. So a sword made with Craft Weaponsmithing would tend to be angular, keen, geometric and crisp. By contrast one made by Profession Weaponsmith would be more fluid, organic, and possibly even chaotic. Both would function equally well, it would just be a matter of preference.
Above tangent aside, this post is primarily about finding out what Craft and Profession skills people have come across in/for their games.

Sorry if my choas throws you; I'm too wise to keep things orderly.
