Crappy distributers! (was [FFG] AtS?)

Starting out your sales pitch with "Boy, you guys are really frustrating me" is not going to entice any customers. Rather, it will in all likelihood send them packing. Calling other store owners apathetic and lazy doesn't make you sound professional at all, instead you come off more as a obnoxious jack@$$. I'm not saying that you are, but you DEFINITELY come off that way.

I was actually thinking th same thing, but i 'm willing to give the guy the benifit of the doubt.

I also wanted to clearify a couple other points, one i'm not equipt for and try to aviod internet buying, and i very much like to support my FLGS's as much as possible. The fact of the matter is i've been buying comics from the shop in question for fifteen years, i concider the owner a friend and would very much like to see him succeed in increasing his business on the RPG end of things. For his good, my own good, and the good of the local gaming community. It's something i feal pretty strongly about and i think buying over the internet hurts the FLGS a great deal. Not saying these sites don't provide a great survice, especially to those with no FLGS, it's just i'd prefure to keep them as a last ditch effort.

I should also point out the reason i started this thread was because i was honostly curious to find a reason for the delays. Not because i was angery with my FLGS and wanted an alternative.

Well, I guess that sure is a limitation of pure text messages in that the intonation that I heard in your message was complete frustration in your FLGS.

I have a loose alliance with a few other game shops and we share one another's distributors if there is just no way the other can find product. I have the books (though I just sold a full set of FFG MN-01, MN-02 and MN-03 today so I no longer have them in hand) still available from my distributor.

Have your FLGS contact me and we can do a trade or something. Like I said, I'm looking for QLI's Traveller D20. If your FLGS is into customer service, they'd be happy to check me out to see if I can get them product. They won't make as much money getting the books from me, but they'll be getting some money out of you, as well as making you a happy customer. I'm sure if they are really trying to get product, they're just as frustrated and this will be an easy thing to do to release that pressure.

Not that it's of any consequence since you were just venting, but I can also vouch for Jeff, despite my also low post count. In fact, I just recieved several packages today (well, yesterday actually now) from him. :) Jeff, you'll be glad to know that my Ravenloft/FFG order that shipped FRIDAY was caught up to by my AU that shipped what, TUESDAY?? MAN, I definitely LIKE the change to FedEx!! :D Good experiment, I say keep up with the FedEx, a good change. Since I said it here, I won't bother posting to your boards.

Yup. I'm loving it too. All my packages arrived and it only cost a slight bit more over USPS media mail. If I were to add insurance to every media mail package, it would cost MORE to do USPS than FedEx.

Except for a Canadian package not due to be delivered until the 6th, I have NO other PENDING deliveries to worry about.

The FedEx things is definitely staying, for a while at least.

another low post count-er chiming in

Just another low post count person chiming in...

Jeff/d20Books is quite the reputable online gaming resource/retailer, and the fact that people are just spouting off negatively, instead of finding out more information frustrates me as well, as I think he is an upstanding guy/business.

And here why...

1. He offers great prices
2. He offers great selection
3. He has *great* customer service

I can't stress this last point enough...he goes well out of his way to take care of his folks. I recently had a pre-order of all 3 of the 3.5 books. The package arrived, with a little extra *handling* by the USPS (if you get my meaning) - all 3 books had some dinged up corners as a result.

Instead of pushing off the issue to me & telling me "tough" or that he doesn't have controll over the shippers, or that I should have specifically gotten insurance, he made it right...immediately. Apologized profusely (for something that wasn't his fault) and *asked me* what I wanted to make it right. How is that for customer service!

Anyway, I ramble on...but after reading some of the posts, I wanted to offer up my feedback of d20Books, and its resoundingly POSITIVE. :)

ps. It's always good to remember, just because people don't post (or have big post counts) on boards, it doesn't mean then aren't here reading...Lots of us stop by to read, but just don't take the time to toss in our two cents worth... alot of baords should remember this....
