Creating A Homebrew Website

First Post
I have been toying with creating a homebrew website for my campaign. Firstly, I'm not sure of what sort of hoasting is available, so I will need to research that. Also, what sort of content beyond the main map should I include. the reason I want to do this is for is mostly for any future players I may encounter and also to perhaps make it something that other people may want to use. Any ideas how I should go about this?

I recommend a tiddlywiki... It's like a wiki, but self-contained in a single file. Check out my campaign site for an example: http://taintedlands.tiddlyspot.com/

You can get free hosting at tiddlyspot.com.

Nice thing is you can actually save the page and use it offline... Can't do that with a normal wiki.

I like the functionality of a wiki, especially the idea of of working on it online. Can you import maps as a jpeg for folks to see? I have over 200 maps for my campaign and would like to put some of them up.

Yes and no. Wikis have facilities for uploading and maintaining images, whereas with a tiddlywiki you need to find hosting of your own for images and then link to them.

I'm running 'Scorched Earth', my homebrew Post-Apocalyptic homebrew, as a play-by-comment blog. I've found that WordPress works quite well (and is free). Take a look, if you're interested:

So your players can simply enter their own entries with a password I assume? Can you upload images of maps or is their only a small amount of server space?

Yes, you can upload all kinds of files, provided the administrator of the blog allows it. There are file size restrictions, but those, too, can be changed to whatever fits your needs.
