So essentially you're under a class insofar as that is what currently describes your character? As it evolves it finds new classes to latch onto? That does sound like it would work much more nicely. Especially when it comes to progression being meaningful rather than arbitrary.

Basically yes.

You can't change classes until you have five advances. Simplifying slightly you pick your advances from a list of about a dozen (it varies slightly by class) and on that list are two options of any move for your class you haven't already taken, two options for any move from any other class, three to five advances to a stat (depending on your class; some are more flexible than others) and often a couple of extras - class specific although frequently . And switching classes takes the place of an advance.

So if you start off as a member of one class and want to transfer to another it's entirely possible that every single advance you make before you change classes is either a move from the class you are going to transfer to or a stat boost. Alternatively it's possible to change classes without mechanical preparation if for example you get some sort of windfall or just decide as a hardholder you've had enough, and want to just be a gun for hire.

WOIN might work for it. Or not. But it's OGC and free to use.

This looks very appealing, though I would have to hack it to be 'high-fantasy'. This system looks great in that it stretches all three realms of roleplaying settings, which my universe does as well. It looks like this is partially your product? Very nice!

Ah I understand. If anything, I can certainly use this for prototyping.

I don't think that anyone between Gygax and Arneson in 1974 and Vincent Baker in 2010 got the huge asset a class based game gives you that point buy doesn't. Under a good class-based game everyone can be playing a different game with an entirely different experience and objectives while at the same table.

When I speak with people crafting their own rule-sets, I encourage them to survey a wide variety of game systems to find what works the best (from their perspective) and to then build a kind of "Bricolage" of these ideas first. Seems like you've done this on some level but I would agree with an earlier post and refer you to the multi-d6 Star Wars rules and some of the older systems: Chivalry and Sorcery, Rollmaster maybe, hmmm....

What distinguishes your system from the crowd? What makes your rule set attractive?

I'm not trying to convince you to go the Savage Worlds route over any other system--do what feels best for your game--but I did want to clarify the license.

You can use the Savage Worlds Fan license *without approval* and the official Savage Worlds license *with approval* but both are free. The main difference to us is we need to make sure official products meet our basic standards.
