Creating Bookmarks in Indesign

You CAN Do it in InDesign 2

But I'm not sure I remember exactly how...

However, I belive that if you create a tabel of contents (based in headers), when you then export to PDF the bookmarks are there.

Creating bookmarks in ID2 is doable. I do it every month. Malak is right...you use the Table of Contents feature, based on headers that you designate. Those TOC entries are then put in as bookmarks.

It isn't as full-featured as I'd like. For instance, I haven't found a way to automatically create 2nd-tier bookmarks.

But it does work in ID2. Go to the ID forums on Adobe's website and you can probably get much better detail on it.

Thanks, I'll have to check that forum. I do have a 30 day trial for Indesign CS and it would be well worth the update. You can download it from Adobe's website.

Just had a chance to try it, and must report the bookmarks feature in ID CS is thoroughly awesome. Works pretty much like making Acrobat bookmarks, is located in a floating palette (which you can dock if you like... hooray for the palette dock in ID CS, by the by... and you can create "child" or nested bookmarks down at least four levels (haven't tried more, but don't see why not). They export seamlessly as-is to Acrobat.

Still haven't tried automatically generating TOC/other hyperlinks and bookmarks, or layered PDF... next time....
