Creation Myth Human Perspective

First there was only chaos then Hamaskis the great owl came
and began to impose order on the cosmos.

From the scattered energies of this conflict a reality came
into being.

This reality included Narth and the life growing there.
For this world Hamaskis created caretakers.

Silvanus (Nature) as the overseer of the new world
and a quartet of companions to aid him:
One for the Land (Terrin), one for the Sea (Cymnea),
one for the Sky (Saeble) and one for Fires (Ember).

The process of creation was imperfect and the assistants
were born as jealous females. All in eternal conflict. All constantly
vying for Silvanus' attentions and to gain acendancy over
her sisters.

As the attentions of the four sisters were now fully occupied.
Hamaskis created an two additional caretakers to watch over
the newly formed life: one for Flora (Chauntea)
and another for Fauna (Mielikki).

Unlike their older siblings these new guardians
became reliant on one another and worked together to nurture
their charges. Thus the younger goddesses
drew the approval of Silvanus much to the chagrin of
the quartet.

When they noticed what their jealousies had wrought
them the four sisters tried to regain that which they had
lost.

Within forests and the sea came Larethian with his brethren and the elves.
While in the depths of the land and beneath the stone of the mountains
was born Moradin who forged the dwarves. Fire and air not to be
outdone sent the Dragons to become lords of the sky.

As extensions of their creators the newly born races
began to war almost at their birth.

Mielikki and Chantea were saddened by these new creations
and sought to lessen their impact upon their realms. To this end
they created Yondalla and the halflings to ward the fields
and Garl and the gnomes to watch the hills.

But these new races hadn't the power to withstand the elder races.
They were soon forced to retreat in order to survive.

The sisters petitioned Silvanus for aid.

He created the humans as a moderating influence.
With their much higher birthrate and short lifespans
humans were much more likely to wreak great change
upon the world than were the elder races.

The elder races had little choice. They had to
band together or else be quickly overcome by the
newcomers.

Bereft of influence from any of the sisters the humans
soon developed their own philosophies more in keeping
with their short lifespans.

Thus was born Alishanka (right "good")
and Sithanus (wrong "evil").

Alishanka sacrificed a part of himself to create Ariele
she who was to become his consort and his
greatest source of strength.

Sithanus did not understand the sacrifice required
and attempted to create his own consort. He bore Hecate
as a reflection of his unending thirst for power.

However unlike Ariele who supported and loved her her sire,
Hecate despised her father and sought to undermine his
power at every turn.

From the union of Alishanka and his bride were born the twins
Discanus and Tyche. It is seemly that in his vain attempt to create
the ultimately lawful good offspring that the twins were born
as the two sides of chaos instead.

The young siblings were willful from the offset. Each reflecting
an aspect of the human's society that was overlooked by their
sire.

Since this time other gods have come into being
as human's interests wax and wane.

At present Tempus reflects human society's preoccupation
with war and battle and as an adjunct to this new sphere was born
Celine and her purview of healing and health.

Although the elder gods still play a part in human life, any homage
paid to them by humanity is tied to specific interests

Cymnea is revered by they who sail the sea and Saeble is often
called upon to look favourably upon a great journey.

Mielikki and Chauntea have feverent adherents amongst the
mortal populace as both the forests and the fields bear
great relevance to farmers and woodsman.
