Mark Clover: game designer, Chicago tour guide, drinking buddy, former moderator, damn good DM, stand up comedian, and friend.

All in all, a fine summary.

If he lets me, for my next Fiery Dragon adventure I fully intend to steal - err, borrow with credit - Mark's system for showing what topics interest NPCs. It's graceful, simple, and damned creative. Yoink! Not only that, his community DM chat the other night got me out of a sticky problem in my own campaign. Damn, I'm appreciative!

An early happy birthday to a great guy and a great gamer! Mark has been a vital part of these boards, and perhaps the main reason that the EN World Chicago game days have been a roaring success.

When I can get my players to start up low level characters again, I will see how they fare in the Whispering Woodwind. Also, I like the Trundlefolk -- who can easily be adapted to any setting that needs a traveling itinerant culture.

I love Creative Mountain Games Creation Myth. It's wonderfully detailed and perfectly logical. If I ever get off my butt and finish writing up the pantheon for a homebrew campaign, I'll use it as a guideline.

Besides that, Mark smells funny. And he needs a haircut. :) But besides that, he's a great DM and a hell of a nice guy.

What a wonderful thread!

Meeting and hanging out with Mark at Gen Con 2002 was the highlight of the Con for me.

He is a fantastic drinking companion, a witty conversationalist, and an excellent DM to boot. Happy birthday Methuselah!

Anyway, after glancing at his "Formation Fighting" feats (since included in Fiery Dragon's second printing of the Counter Collection) I thought "Aha! Finally, a way to make my feared Hobgoblin baddies formidable to the PC"s...organization!

Worked like a charm until the PC Wizards figured out what the Formation Destroyer spell was...

Not, not fireball.

Confusion!...the formation went right to hell, with guys attacking each other, doing nothing, dropping their gear, wandering off etc. Without their Spears and shield, and without being in range of their fellows, these were Hobgoblins who were short a few useful feats:)

It was a blast, made blastier by Mark's hard work:)

Ooh, I've never actually looked at his site before, but I love his formation feats! I'm definitely going to have to steal some of them to use in my campaign, especially since I've got a few "tandem fighting" feats based on Dual Strike (in S&F) already!

Will have to wait til I game again to do anything with them, but still....

Wait a second, forty!? I have seen photos* of this guy and he doesn't look a day over thirty-nine. ;)

*from last years Gencon admittedly. :o

Not currently DMing I have not directly used any of Marks excellent material up to now, but I must say I have been incredibly impressed with his writing (both style and content) - in fact I would go as far as to say its at least the equal of anything else I have seen.

Heres wishing him every success and a happy birthday to boot! :)

Neat contest, alsih, and thanks everyone for the well wishes! :)

I can only assume that I am not elligible to win... ;)

(Very cool dice roller, btw!)
