Creator finds copy of product on Amazon

I saw the book nook she's talking about on Amazon. I even thought of buying one. I will not do it now. 1) in support of this creator. 2) I'm too lazy to do all work to put it together. I had no idea it was so much work.

This video is great at looking into this world of copycat products. I was aware of copied products on Amazon, but in my ignorance I never thought of the small businesses. I thought it was mostly large companies.

Like she eventually go to in the clip, I'm not surprised. It seems that anything I look for online has a cheap copy on Temu or another site like that.

Although, if you can make something better than the original, then people will want it. Someone took the two-part plug into a switchboard phone and made the rotary phone. Then the push button phone became a cell phone, then a does everything tracking devise.

Yeah, Amazon is swamped with them. New books get a raft of copies and imitators, often within days. It’s even worse with AI doing it too, so the process is becoming automated.

I've seen it come up on some writers' forums: stories that are turned into audiobooks on YouTube, or just sold on Amazon under someone else's name.

I enjoy that creator a lot and sympathize with her frustration, but "stolen" is a bit dramatic here. She provided inspiration at best.

I watched this video a couple of days ago. (I'm subscribed to the channel.) I have friends who have had things like their T-Shirt art stolen and resold. I've had my pictures downloaded and sold. People who will steal from creatives have zero conscience and China is the Wild West for art theft.

I'm calling the design concept "art." They aren't stealing the physical product. They're stealing the idea.

However, didn't book nook's like hers exist a few years prior.

Monde made them around 7-8 years ago.

Did she attribute her ideas to Monde? Did she attribute them to others who made them prior to her creation? Did she attribute the mirror ideas to the others who created them prior?

Or did she do the same thing that she is claiming others did to her (which is just as likely if not more so, that they stole the idea from Monde?).

Edit: Looking at similarities, I'd say the animation MIGHT be something she added to the Monde idea (though they had others already with that type of idea, but not specifically two burning torches like she had)...but I don't think she gave any credit to others for the rest of her ideas??).

It's the combined ideas of the Infinity Mirror, Pepper's Ghost, and the library scene. The combination is something that wasn't really done until her project.
