For dust to water, how about a unique spell-like ability, described in a way similar to the black dragon's corrupt water ability?

An excellent suggestion!

For gaze reflection, either make it immune to gaze attacks, or add a unique ability that allows it to reflect gazes.

I'd opt for immunity to gaze attacks. Since creatures with gaze attacks are immune to their own gaze attacks, reflection wouldn't be very useful.

if we just make it blind (but with blindsight) it will be immune to gaze attacks, like oozes :)

That would definitely make it oozelike, and explain how it sees things in its murky pond.

is there anything special that needs to be done to make it blind? just give it an appropriate special quality?

I'm not sure about this method either, but here's a modified form of the doppelganger's change shape ability that might fit our needs.

Change Shape (Su): A skuz is able to manipulate its slimy body, allowing it to assume the shape of any creature of its size category or smaller. In a humanoid form, the skuz loses its natural attacks. A skuz can remain in one form until it chooses to assume a new one. A change in form cannot be dispelled, but a skuz reverts to its natural form when killed. A true seeing spell or ability reveals its natural form.

If you use this or a similar ability, I supposed the shapechanger subtype should be added.

i'll look at this when i get a chance later. and i don't think the subtype will be necessary. let me think about that some.

"In a humanoid form, the skuz loses its natural attacks."

why? otherwise, i like that description as written. it suits the monster well. :)

also, do you think i handed this well as turn resistance +2? "While skuzs can be turned as a “special” undead, they do not leave their pond or lake."

and for skills, how about: Skills: Bluff +17, Concentration +13, Diplomacy +4, Disguise +15 (+17 acting), Hide +9, Intimidate +16, Listen +14, Move Silently +10, Search +7, Spot +14, Swim +24

Because that is the way the doppelganger was written, which is where I cut and paste the ability from. ;)

I'd agree that the line should go.

Yes, definitely.

Sounds good.

Just give it blindsight. I believe that it is stated that a creature with blindsight is always blind.
