ok, i'm not wasting any time on this one, so you've got 2 days to vote. you can pick more than one option, and if we've got a couple of really popular ones, i may think of a way to combine them. just so you know:

tonguez's idea will make the creature incorporeal 100% of the time.

misshappen's idea makes it into something of a parasite.

the other three ideas are ordinary corporeal types, but that does not preclude the idea that we could give them some sort of incorporeal ability, or gaseous form, or ethereal powers.

I like the incorporeal Aura of Plant Growth idea.

I remember seeing a Star Trek episode that had this pair of creatures from the galaxy of Andromeda. They could appear as anything and when they died in the end and their true nature was revealed they were little plant-like creatures writhing on the ground.

I see the creature much the same way, able to appear as anything that it has knowledge of. In reality it is but a small evil highly intelligent plant that looks like an animated mandrake root.

I voted for my own idea and for MissHappens too - I like the idea of a parasite extending a cyst network into the surrounding plant (and animal) life and taking over everything in its radius of effect

Like a seeping plague that can only be killed by destroying the source.
