The drone band Earth has all kinds of stuff that would be appropriate, as would the work of extreme guitarist Buckethead's recordings as Death Cube K. You could also get some mileage out of the compositions of Glen Branca.
In a different direction, check out the groups Kronos Quartet and Apocalyptica.

The score from the game Thief: Deadly Shadows would easily fit. It is ambient music and works okay if you just want to loop a particular track.

Oh yeah- Western sensibilities may be unnerved a bit by music from other cultures- like Tibetan Throat Music- or the sounds of unusual instruments like crystal organs, singing bowls or fire organs.
