Anyone else read that little bit at the bottom of the Kobold entry in the 3.5 MM, labelled "challenge rating"?

Kobolds with NPC class levels have a CR of their class level -3.

Now, give a kobold 4 levels of adept...

CR 1 death machine! He's invisible! Now a scorching ray comes out of nowhere!

What's his LA for PC classes? -2 perhaps? -1?

I could deal with a -4 to STR if my class abilities and HP were 1 level ahead of everyone else... specially as a rogue or a sorc.

Kobalds never had a negative LA and I think they still don't. This is an NPC class/race CR adjustment. If not, I want to play a negative LA race.

There are no negative LAs for PC classes... at least, I sure hope there aren't. That'd be an even worse idea than those "anti-metamagic" feats from the WOTC websote.
