I use the "max damage plus normal damage roll then plus modifiers rule".
A crit should be a crit, and after getting three double dice crofts where they rolled snake eyes in a row, I thought I'd change up. Now a crit is a really exciting moment.
Of course, geese and ganders...the monsters get the same rule.
