Critical Role Critical Role Campaign 4 Episode One +

Totally understandable! To be clear, I did absolutely intend “no combat in this episode” as a negative. Combat being a bit less interesting to watch (for me) was just to say that personally I found it a relatively small negative.
I can't stand the combat in actual plays. Especially D&D. It's one thing to have to sit through the tedium of 10 minutes of fun stretched across 2-3 hours of play when you're one of the people actually involved. But it's a special kind of hell to watch someone else do it. When they get into fights I usually just check out. If it's a big fight I'll catch a recap or something in a day or two. If ever there was a time for tossing all the mechanics and just using something like simple clocks to speed run a situation, it's combat.

I will say this, though, the DM was decently good, but his constant "ums" and "uhs" were driving me crazy. Hopefully that dies down as the group downsizes into separate groups of play.
This is a known issue, and BLM catches a fair amount of flak for it. It's probably his only real "Flaw" in my book, and he famously did it over 100 times in a single hour during Calamity. But he's also one of the best comedic improvisers I've ever seen, and just generally a rockstar in a lot of categories. So, pros and cons I suppose!
