crits and Action Points

I just want to make sure I understand this right.

A 20 is an automatic hit. If the 20 would have hit normally (without it being automatic), it also has a chance to be a critical. In order to "activate" the crit, you need to spend an AP.

So my question is do you have confirm the crit in the traditional sense in addition to spending an AP? Does spending an AP give the opportunity to possibly confirm the crit?

A natural 20 is an automatic hit. Unless you must have a 20 to hit, then a it provides a chance for a critical. If the player wishes to confirm the critical, they spend an AP and it automatically becomes a critical. If the DM wishes to inflict a critical on the PC, he awards the player an AP and confirm it.

So, overall fewer crits (at least by the PCs).

Depending of course on how often you renew Action Points ( your action "skulls" ;) )
