Cross-genre Module Fun

First Post
I recently read a (too) short thread about horror in a Star Wars campaign setting and liked the idea enough that I want to try converting some of my old Call of Cthulhu adventures to a Star wars setting. Has anyone else done this? Has anyone else used modules from one genre in a drastically different one? How did it fair? Was it an exciting and memorable game? Did it fail miserably? Let me know.

cross-genre fun

I'm doing something similar now. I'm running the Shackled City adventure path from Dungeon magazine with Star Wars jedi consulars & guardians; Judge Dredd street & psi judges; and Omega World human & mutant explorers. It's working pretty well, so far. But, it's all d20-based, so the conversion is minimal.

What you're considering sounds like more work. But, it should be possible. What you really want to do is bring the horrific elements of CoC to SW. I would suggest making as few changes to the rules part of the game as possible. If the game is basically SW, then keep those rules and just change the parts of the CoC module to fit that game.

Heck, you can translate a Call of Cthulu adventure to virtually any genre.

Some of the others are a challenge, though. The 1E DMG had a whole section on running cross-genre adventures, with tips on converting Boot Hill and Gamma World into AD&D. Running a Boot Hill or 007 adventure in Gamma World was always a bit bizarre, but I've been there. A long time ago, in a gaming group far, far away ...

been there, done that have the t-shirt to prove it

i converted 7503 GW1 Legion of Gold from Gamma World as a followup adventure to S3 Barrier Peaks for my OD&D campaign.
