Crowbars and 10 ft. poles

I usually don't like "real-world" arguments too much, but the leverage provided by a crowbar is at least equal twice your normal strength.

But, and this is a big BUT, it depends on how effectively you can use the crowbar. That's a DM decision all the way.

Maybe this will help, though (I'm making this all up):

Perfect conditions: +8
Can be used, but slightly awkward: +4
Is of some assistance: +2

Or:

Perfect Conditions: +100% strength modifier
Can be used, but slightly awkward: +50% strength modifier
Is of some assistance: +25% strength modifier

Actually, I like the second method better, as it is tied closer to a lever multiplier as in "real life."

These posts have been very helpful.

Artoomis, I think the real world thing is exactly what would be most relevant, precisely because we're totally in the realm of DM discretion. It makes sense to make up the most sensible and realistic ruling.

Strongbow gave the rules for potable ram thankfully. I basically follwed that rule except where it said the other persondoesn't have to roll. Yeah he doesn't have to but for me at least I let them both roll and the best roll gets the +4 bonus.
