July 18, 2003– Cryptosnark Games is delighted to announce the imminent release of The Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks Modern, an adaptation of the well-received Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks to the d20 Modern system!
While retaining all the positive features of the original BODD, the BODD Modern takes several new features from Deeds Not Words Revision 1.1 and uses them to create a more comprehensive and granular advantage/disadvantage system for modern-day d20 characters. Many of the flaws that were binary in the original BODD have been redesigned to offer varying degrees of severity and compensation, and a number of optional handicaps have been addeed for maximum flaw customization. The BODD Modern is more than a simple translation of the original BODD– it's an expansion and an improvement, offering an even larger pagecount for the same reasonable price.
Expect the following:
• 135 character disadvantages, including physical handicaps, psychological impairments, medical conditions, background complications, enemies, dependents, addictions, and "weird" problems;
• 25 character background advantages, including the ability to own businesses or ships, secret bases, contacts and allies, military and political ranks, and much more;
• Seasoning With Experience, a limited "lifepath" system designed to start characters off on a more interesting foot at 1st level. Select a career path based on risk factor and gamble once on the table for each year your character spends in that career. Arrive at 1st level fat, wealthy, and secure... or perhaps broke, injured, and hunted! Also:
• 25 Advanced Occupation Packages, pre-designed templates combining occupations, flaws, and advantages designed to allow the swift creation of certain specialized d20 characters.
Just as comprehensive and carefully-balanced as the original BODD, the Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks Modern is an invaluable embellishment sourcebook for any d20 modern character or campaign.
