Cryptosnark PDF Package Deals on CD-- Limited Time Only!

For what it's worth, you're not alone. I still haven't received a CD either, and there are at least a couple of people on the Deeds, Not Words Yahoo group who are also without one.

No one seems to have heard from Scott in quite a while. Having just recently joined the Yahoo group, I got the impression he was a frequent poster, answering rules questions and such. However, his last post seems to have been a month ago (around 1/13/04), and several other members are now posting "Where's Scott?" messages.

It does seem worrisome...

Maybe by the end of the month I'll start searching for the people in the special thanks sidebar of Deeds Not Words, or the two artists credited in that work. Or his webmaster.

It never really occurred to me how fragile a company could be when it's just one guy, a computer, and a website.

I forgot about the Yahoo! group he mentioned at the beginning of DNW. I'll probably join the DNW and maybe the Supers boards there for more info.

Any other Scott Lynch fans out there?

He moved recently. His new place has no access, and he has limited transportation availability. He's doing what he can to rectify this, but seeing as Cryptosnark is his income that's going to be difficult.

NO access?

I can't imagine anyplace where you can't at least get a 56K dialup line and an AOL account.

I can - if he doesn't have a hard telephone line. I know places without them.

I wish I wasn't broke. I'd get some Cryptosnark stuff for my friend Tom who loved the Book of Distinctions and Drawbacks...

Hi Corinth.

An idea, if you have actual contact with Scott (which it sounds like you might):

The original CD offer was for all current Cryptosnark PDFs plus some bonus material. Speaking for myself, I would be happy just to get the PDF products that were promised (and supposed to have been received by Dec. 24), all of which are currently available through RPG Now. I can live without the bonus material if I'm forced to; the PDFs alone would be more than the $20 I paid for the CD.

I believe there is a way (not sure how complex it is) to send out free copies through RPG Now. Even if Scott doesn't have his own Internet access right now, perhaps he might consider finding a way (a friend, a public computer) to send out free links to all of the customers who are currently without their CDs.
From what I can gather on the Deeds, Not Words group (from when Scott was still posting), he does not have his own CD burner, so I can see where he might not currently be able to burn new CDs.

A couple of customers on the Yahoo group are growing (legitimately) impatient with this whole mess, as am I. With Cryptosnark being a small company, I'd hate to see Scott lose some of his customer base over this. I really want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time, this is a business he is running, and I would think he'd want to do everything possible, as quickly as possible, to provide the necessary products to his paying customers.

Again, I'm not sure how workable the RPG Now idea is (it would certainly involve a LOT of free links), but it's just something for him to consider.

I'll relay this through the only reliable channel that I've got: his girlfriend.

Many thanks. If you don't mind, also send my sincere wishes that things settle down for him soon. Sounds like it's been a bit crazy of late.
