Cthulhu Deities & Hombrew Worlds - Need Help

Your best bet would be to search all of those entities on Wikipedia. They all have at least as much (usually quite a bit more) detail to them than anyone here could reasonably be expected to type up.

I'm not really a fan of the August Derleth inspired good vs. evil and elemental focus to the Gods; the whole point of the Cthulhu mythos was that they were elements of cosmic horror used purely as plot contrivances, not systematic and systemitized entities. That said, if you really want to use them as such, they all have write-ups in the d20 Call of Cthulhu game and the link Derro posted is as good a place as any to get deity stats if you need them.

I need a bit of an education regarding these baddies

the Complete works of H. P. Lovecraft

Cthulhu..

Shub-Niggurath: Never met in the HPL source material, but often invoked in dark prayer. Often linked to vile fertility by more modern writers. I think some in HPL’s writer circle linked her to the primordial ooze / Source of all life..

Azathoth,
[O]utside the ordered universe [is] that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.[9]

Nyarlathotep Nyarlathotep by H. P. Lovecraft The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath by H. P. Lovecraft The Haunter Of The Dark by H. P. Lovecraft

Nyarlathotep serves the will of the blind idiot god Azathoth, though contemptuously. Has his own countless Cults & a 1000 different forms. Somewhat Satan like.

Yog-Sothoth.

From a D&D perspective, Yog makes a decent patron to amoral wizards. Alienists of course, but also any wicked wizard hubristic enough to traffic with things man was not meant to know.

So, I have not read any of the other posts and I do not have time for much insight but a suggestion I can give! In my 4th Edition campaign I have worked out stats for some Cthulhu things and its the basis for one entire campaign i run. I treat them less as "gods" in the classical sense and more of preternatural alien beings who may as well be gods. They come from and exist differently then Gods and most beings. Very much Far Realms influencing. It allows them to be different; exist outside the pantheon you have; and allow you to mention as little about them as you like. Either way they are a fun add!
