Cthulhu Future

The premise reminds me of the system "Space Gothic". I am not sure if it`s available outside of Germany.
It has some kind of sanity rules, and is somewhat bizarre. The adventures for it were quite good (or crazy) - since we didn`t like the system, we adapted the adventures for Dragonstar and later D20 Modern.

The setting itself features space paladins, evil megacorporations (though I never figured out if Prometheus or Shark was the evil one - maybe it were both), the H&K Sargnagel (H&K "coffinnail"), extradimensional monsters, aliens and plasmaguns.

A quote from a german website:

A German-language sci-fi/horror RPG¸ set in the year 2245. After a devastating war of megacorporations¸ Prometheus Technical Industries (PTI) has absolute power over the colonies of the Terran Union. The armed forces of the space navy were displaced into the external colonies and organized along feudal lines with knights. There are strange races¸ whose existence is denied by the totalitarian government. It uses a complex percentile system. Character creation is class-based¸ with 20 classes. Actually, there is supposed to be a real future Cthulhu game out sometime in the near future (hopefully), Cthulhutech? Something like that, where the Mythos are fought via Mecha. (Presumably like how Godizilla is fought with MechaGodzilla, though that never worked out too well)

Now I'm not saying that there is something like this in d20 Future, but I know the phrase "Cthulhu in Space" was used to describe one of the sections of the book I wrote. Take that for what you will.

I haven't read the source book, but the Babylon5 settings could be interesting for a future setting. Considering the show having (at some points) some reference to the Mythos.

I'm going to use it down the line for my campaign.

Set in modern times, my players encountered a creature living in antartica that told them about the Deep Ones and the Ancients... Furthermore there was a "shadows" ship burried in the snow... so he told them about the Shadows and the Vorlons...

My campaign has been played on and off for about 2 years.

The first part was played in 1928. Two players.

The second part was played in current times and events (inspired by journal articles) where the characters where members of the Skulls only to learn about the dark involvement of the organization. Then finally encountered two characters from the 1928 era, one dead, the other living but only 65 when he was around 28 in 1928... Only one player played the 1928 era of the campaign but he reprised his character ! 2004 - 1900 = 104 !!! Suffice to say that their characters retired...

The third part is current played in the Dark Ages in the Holy German Empire. Where my players will eventually learn the origin of the the 65' years old guy !!!

The fourth part will be played in current times with Delta Green.

The fifth part will be played in the future on Babylon5 !

Since somebody else mentioned mecha-Cthulhu, it's probably also worth mentioning CthulhuPunk. GURPS came out with that quite a few years ago, and it's a solid book. Obviously not relevant for d20 stats, but the setting material could be useful.

It definitely has the coolest cover art I've ever seen in an RPG book. But I'm turned off by the "Punk" part of CthulhuPunk. Cyberpunk is sooooo 80's. And all the silly jargon: "We did a slamhound run down in NeoTokyo under the glaring neon and the grit of the ObaSaki matrix. Cat-cat and Booshk went toxic on the grid and the icebreaker never knew what hit it."

Yawn.

(BTW, if you want to write a William Gibson novel, just do what I did above for 300+ pages. It's easy. :p )

Man, if that causes you to rub your nipples, I don't want to know what you would do if I spilled the beans. Seriously though, I can't say anything more just yet. Suffice to say that it's the only part of the book that I'm worried comes closest to violating the "no fantasy" clause in the book. I guess it's going to depend on whether or not futuristic horror counts...

Just because it is nice... :)

Cthulhutech is comng out at some point, mecha vs the Mythos, several hundred years into the future after mankind has deciphered some of the Great Old Ones technology and built mecha powered by magical engines. The timeline is great, and you can see direct take offs of Macross and Evangelion.

This is a game I have been wanting to run for years, and I just found out they are making a whole system around it a month ago. I fon't know whether to be happy about it, or upset I didn't make it myself!

I'm still going to run my own Endtimes Mythos vs mecha game, maybe I'll use D20 future and CoC and Mecha Crusade.
