Cults of Freeport?

Does anyone have this and can give a capsule review of its utility? I'm running my players through the Freeport Trilogy now, and I'm curious if the Yellow Sign stuff in the cult book will be useful to fleshing them out in the trilogy. (I also know I won't be able to keep my players away from the wizard's guild for long ...)

This book has been strangely unreviewed, when I would think it'd be a pretty popular book to pick up.

Yes I have it. I just don't have time to review much these days.

Yellow sign stuff and the order of Yig or whatever the snakemen cult is called are great. Both are expanded on nicely and really gave me what I wanted to learn about them.

The other cults are pretty good, but reading them all back to back I got a little tired of the elder evil god angel. They do have some nice twists on it and some cool smaller and nasty cults in there.

I got it and I am currently running the trilogy.

It has neat stuff on both yig and the yellow sign but not much that I think will directly impact running the trilogy.

The Yig Cosmology from the Pirate's Guide world section is expanded a little and ties into two of the other cults (yellow sign and a norse loviatar one).

The Yellow Sign stuff has more on their history in Freeport and dealings with Drac which would be good t have when running the latter parts of the trilogy.

The Wizard's Guild stuff deals with secrets of the inner ruling council of them and IMO has a neat twist on why the cult is there, one interpretation is that the rituals and evil cult center are symbolic metaphors in an arcane path to power and so not truly evil. This would be the most relevant if your group has a wizard who wants to join the guild.

There is a bunch of info that is from the post trilogy time-frame of the Pirate's Guide, major NPCs who are changed by events in Crisis in Freeport, how the Yellow sign was hunted down after the trilogy, etc.

I am enjoying it immensely, I just wish the promised d20 web enhancement for it would come out soon.

Downsides, I don't like the cannibal cult and the murderous pirate god is so-so IMO.

I actually quite liked the cannibal cult and was less thrilled with Yig.

I haven't read the whole thing through yet, though. I do like it, however. Neat stuff.

My scan through gave me the impression that some of the cults might start to kinda run together a bit; the MO's are different, but not so much that they really stand out from each other.

But maybe when I read the whole thing through I'll have a different impression.
