Anyone have any thoughts on what the results of writing a front-end for adding things to e-tools' db would be? i.e. A cgi or java app that would allow for simple addition of classes.feats/skills/etc?
The results would be something like what Davin's working on, I presume. The tricks, as I understand them, are a) you're limited to what is actually designed in the DB (there are some hard-coded things going on with certain classes, for instance), and b) exporting/importing the data that wasn't designed to be user-customized might be tricky because those tables don't use the GUID numbers like the customizable data does and so there would be problems with imports overwriting each other. Probably wouldn't take much to change problem b), however, in a patch or somesuch.
Hey, just because one guy (Davin) is already working on a front-end tool to modify the Access DB don't let that stop you from doing your own if you want.
There is probably no "One True Way" to do it, more options is always better.
